Data You Provide
Search Queries
When a name, location, or other search term is typed into a sponsored search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Union County Inmate Population does not store those search terms in its own record system.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email or send a message about the site, the information in that message may be kept long enough to review and respond. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Automatic Technical Data
Basic technical details may be collected when pages load so the site can run, measure traffic, and diagnose problems.
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on them
- Referring page or site, when available
- Date and time of the visit
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site use and support advertising or analytics. Browser settings can block cookies, although some features may then work differently.
How Data Is Used
- Keep pages available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- Send search requests to the appropriate outside provider.
- Learn which pages are useful to visitors.
- Find broken links, errors, and technical problems.
- Support advertising that may be based on interests or page activity.
Outside Websites
The site links to sheriff pages, court portals, correctional locators, federal systems, and third-party search services. Once you click away, the privacy policy of that outside site controls what happens there.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across sites or deliver targeted ads. Their collection occurs under their policies, not this one.
Who May Receive Data
Personal data is not sold as a standalone product. It may be handled by limited service providers or disclosed when the law requires it.
- Search partners that process submitted queries.
- Analytics providers that measure site activity.
- Advertising networks that place or measure ads.
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security
Reasonable security practices are used, but no internet-connected service can be guaranteed breach proof. Do not send sensitive personal data through a website unless the receiving system is the official office that needs it.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian may request deletion if a minor submitted personal data.
Your Data Rights
- Ask for a copy of personal data held by the site.
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected.
- Request deletion where the law allows it.
- Opt out of certain processing when an available legal right applies.
Policy Updates
This notice may be changed from time to time. Updates take effect when posted here with the revised wording.
